Milestone Equipment Corporation leases 11,700 domestic containers to railroads and logistics companies and announces ECO-MODAL®

Tiburon, California – Milestone Equipment Corporation, one of the largest lessors of intermodal domestic containers, announced the acquisition of 11,700 domestic 53’ containers since the fourth quarter of 2009.  The containers have been leased to railroads and logistics companies in six separate transactions.

Robert Thull, Milestone’s President and founder stated:  “Milestone is committed to rapid growth and investment in domestic intermodal equipment to provide flexible operating leases to its customers.”

Milestone also announced the introduction of its ECO-MODAL® fleet optimization program.  ECO-MODAL® manages and redistributes intermodal fleet capacity between “asset based” intermodal companies. 

ECO-MODAL® fleet services include: fleet buy outs, sale and lease back, remarketing and subleasing, as well as providing fleet capacity for spot market and peak season needs.

Thull stated “ECO-MODAL® restructures and “right sizes” intermodal fleets for changing business cycles and seasonal demand.  Our goal is to give customers access to a larger “virtual fleet” which increases the return on their owned assets and reduces their investment risk.”  

ECO-MODAL® is environmentally friendly and has successfully reduced the carbon footprint of many of Milestone’s customers.
